Employers Get Extension on Form 1095 Distribution Deadline
January 2, 2020
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) extended the deadline for furnishing 2019 Forms 1095-B and 1095C to its employees from Jan. 31 to March 2.
Every year since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirement went into effect, the due date has been delayed due to a substantial number of employers, insurers and other providers of health coverage needing more time to gather and analyze the data they need to prepare the forms to satisfy the requirement to provide the statements.
It is important to note that due to the automatic extension by the IRS, no additional extensions will be granted. Additionally, even though the distribution deadline has been extended, the filing deadline has not, and these returns need to be filed with the IRS by Feb. 2 if filing by paprs.er or March 31 if filing electronically.
You should consider leveraging our ACA solution to take the complexity out of meeting reporting requirements. It allows you to easily track employees’ health care eligibility, generate your 1094-C and 1095-C forms quickly and accurately for your filings with the IRS. Contact us today to get started.
