Continue Use of Current Form I-9

Many employers are aware that the current Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) expired on August 31, 2019. However, since the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) still has yet to announce a release date for the new Form I-9, employers should continue using the current form until the new version is released.

To verify incoming employees’ identities and employment authorization to work in the United States, employers must have all new employees complete a Form I-9. With enforcement efforts increased in recent years, making sure you keep your business’s Form I-9s up-to-date is as important as ever to avoid fines and criminal penalties.

Stay tuned! We will provide you with updates on the release of the new Form I-9 and the related implementation expectations.
